Project
Educational and promotional materials for National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP), bone marrow donors of all ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

Objective
  • To create a theme that reaches multi-cultural audience.
  • To design two levels of brochures: one overview and one more detailed.
  • To communicate (in an attractive and easily understood manner) the heavy-duty medical information (legally required) for a donor to give informed consent.
  • To create collateral items that match the printed materials.

Approach
  • Used photos of real life donors, from different ethnic/cultural backgrounds.
  • Used a color palette that combined all four ethnic campaigns.
  • Divided the medical information into short, easy to understand sections.
  • Used "The Missing Piece" idea to emphasize how important their committment was to patients.
  • Used with companion video, fliers, and reminder magnets.

Outcome
  • Having this line of materials helped coordinators process large groups of people coming out for a donor drive, without needing to bring boxes of literature for each ethnic/cultural group.
  • Reinforced the message of donor committment
