| Educational
brochure for the National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) given to donors at
the time they were identified as a match for a recipient. |
|
| |
|
| Objective |
|
- To clearly communicate necessary medical information
to donors of all cultures.
- To humanize the medical information so people felt
connected to what they were doing.
- To clarify the process of donating marrow.
|
|
| |
|
| Approach |
|
- Used photos of real life donors, from different
ethnic/cultural backgrounds.
- Divided the medical information into short, easy
to understand sections.
- Used "The Missing Piece" idea to emphasize
how important their commitment was to patients.
|
|
| |
|
| Outcome |
|
- Donors were informed without being overwhelmed
by stacks of white paper and black text.
- Answered donor questions up front, so coordinators
didn't have to spend extra time on the phone.
- Gave coordinators another educational tool to ensure
that donors understood the process of marrow donation.
